About the Role
Duties and responsibilities will include the following:
We are looking to employ an experienced behavior therapist to help children with Autism learn new skills relevant to their quality of life. The behavior therapist's responsibilities include implementing treatment goals as instructed by their overseeing clinical mentor, teaching students functional life skills and assisting students in developing healthy coping mechanisms. You should also be able to be playful and engaging with young children.
Assisting patients in developing language, play, social, and self-help skills.
Specifically working with children aged 1-6 on the Autism Spectrum under guidance of a BCBA.
Maintain detailed data and session notes according to company policies.
Communicating with parents to update them about their student’s progress during the day.
Adjusting and being flexible with changes to student programs and behavior plans.
Following BCBA recommendations and implementing feedback to provide the best care for our students.
Ensure client dignity is preserved at all times by providing a compassionate and respectful environment at all times
Develop and provide a fun, engaging, playful and welcoming learning environment.
Requirements
To be successful as a behavior therapist, you should demonstrate compassion, patience, and understanding when treating our students. Ultimately, an outstanding behavior therapist should be able to effectively interact with students to establish trust and accurately assess student needs moment to moment.
In addition, the following are required:
Bachelor's degree in psychology, education, or related field.
RBT certification is strongly recommended.
Proven experience in behavior therapy.
In-depth knowledge of behavior therapy models.
Previous experience working with children.
Experience with ABA preferred but not required.
Sound collaborative skills.
Great communication skills.
Compassionate and patient.
For this position we’re offering a competitive wage of $17-23 p/h depending on experience and health benefits for full time (30 hours/week) employees.
